Battlefield 3 Pre-orders up 700% from BC2

Battlefield 3 Pre-orders up 700% from BC2

Speaking on last night’s earnings call, Frank Gibeau, president of EA’s Games label, believes Battlefield 3 is “flat out” superior to chief rival and current FPS market leader Call of Duty.
Gibeau said in regards to Battlefield 3, "The game is built on our brand-new Frostbite 2 Engine. It takes the battle to an urban landscape with dynamic weapons, destructible environments, vehicular warfare and a team oriented multiplayer that provides a highly competitive social experience.”
He further added, "We know we had a big competitor, but head-to-head with Call of Duty in Q3, we have the superior game engine, superior development studio and a flat out superior game... Come and see for yourself. We'll be showing brand new code and features at E3, I encourage everyone to make time for Battlefield 3."
What might be bolstering Gibeau’s confidence aside from the mostly positive reaction to Battlefield 3 are the pre-order numbers themselves. Pre-orders for Battlefield 3 are up more than 700% compared to the same period before the launch of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Gibeau added, "A lot of people are telling us they want to play this game on day one."
Do you think Battlefield 3 has a chance against this year’s Call of Duty juggernaut? If there’s one FPS franchise that might be able to do it, I’m guessing Battlefield might be it. Battlefield 3 has been in development for more than 6 years and is easily one of the most beloved franchises on the PC and judging from the pre-order numbers, it looks like EA is well on-track for a major FPS showdown this coming fall
